Research hall services

The City Archives’ research hall features seven research desks and wireless internet. There are also two client terminals which are available for studying digitized materials. An option for studying materials that are preserved on microfilm is also available. Digitized materials can be found in the Sinetti archive information system. All inventory information is also available in Sinetti.

If you order documents in advance, you can pick them up from the on-duty staff member once you receive a reply confirming that the documents have been delivered. If you place an order in person, we will pick the documents up for you while you wait. The documents are available for use free of charge, but we charge a fee for copies.

If you reserve materials, we will keep them reserved for you for two weeks. Please note that you may only bring note-taking tools, including a computer, with you inside the research hall. There is a coat rack for outdoor clothing and lockable lockers for storing other items in the lobby. The lobby also has a designated place where you can eat food that you have brought with you.

You are allowed to take photos of public documents with your camera or mobile phone as long as you have received permission from the on-duty staff member.

If you want to examine confidential documents, you will need a research permit. The on-duty staff member at the City Archives’ research hall can provide more detailed instructions on how to apply for a permit. You can reach the on-duty staff member at +358 9 310 43571.
