City Archives

The Helsinki City Archives were founded in 1945. They are responsible for the City’s permanently archived document data and for providing an information service related to them.

The information service includes the research hall service and replying to information requests. Data management covers the tasks required to permanently retain archived document information. These tasks include receiving materials, managing the archive rooms and monitoring and maintaining the condition of the rooms.

The City Archives’ responsibilities also include the development and upkeep of the Sinetti archive information system, as well as planning and carrying out the digitisation of documents. The City Archives oversee the analogue document administration of the City divisions.
